Conforma Clad Announces Barrel Measurement Capability

New Albany, IN – (July 6, 2004)

Conforma Clad Inc., a leading provider of replacement twin-screw extruder barrels, announces the introduction of its new Barrel Measurement Program. The program features a portable electronic gauge capable of precisely measuring the bore diameters of assembled twin-screw co-rotating segmented barrels.

The gauge assesses the degree of wear and condition of the bore surface, without having to disassemble the barrels. The gauge can measure diameter ranges from 50mm to 300mm, with a maximum barrel length of 5,080mm. Device features include precision gauge heads, pencil probe linear gauge, and an oversized digital display. Measurement data can be uploaded directly to a computer for further analysis, or printed for a permanent record.

Conforma Clad launches the Barrel Measurement Program as an extension of its comprehensive service program, which currently includes barrel inspection, refurbishing, and sleeving services and a quick-ship inventory program. Randall Dooley, Plastics Sales Engineer comments, “We are pleased to offer customers this new value-added service. Customers have voiced apprehensions about disassembling their barrels in order to measure wear. Now, with our assembled barrel measurement capabilities, we are positioned to provide one more convenient service.”

Twin-screw co-rotating segmented barrel measurements are now available nationwide. Please contact Scott Whalen at newalbany.contact@kennametal.com or at (812)948-2118 for more information and to schedule your appointment.
