Conforma Clad Introduces Cereal Dies with Superior Wear Resistance
New Albany, Indiana — (November 1, 2003)Conforma Clad, a leading provider of severe wear solutions for fabricated metal components, introduces wear protection specially designed for food extrusion dies. Conforma Clad, which dates back to 1968, has been offering severe wear solutions to the food industry for 3+ years. Conforma Clad’s revolutionary process uses infiltration brazing to bond tungsten carbide to the base material of a component forming a hard, uniform protective cladding that provides superior wear against abrasion, erosion, and corrosion. The composition of Conforma Clad’s tungsten carbide wear protection has been reviewed by the FDA and deemed acceptable for repeat use in food-contact applications. Cereal dies protected with Conforma Clad’s tungsten carbide technology last up to ten times (10X) longer than stainless steels dies traditionally used in food extrusion. Due to the dense layer of evenly distributed carbide particles, dies wear at a slow, predictable rate, making it easier to maintain the extruded product’s size and shape. This leads to increased throughput and inherent quality control, both of which lead to greater profitability. Conforma Clad’s tungsten carbide technology can also be applied to extruder barrels, screw segments, shredder rolls, and various other components exposed to abrasive materials. Conforma Clad’s experience and technical expertise can provide solutions for your severe wear applications.
