Conforma Clad Obtains ASME "S" Stamp Certification
For Immediate Release
New Albany, IN – (July 28, 2006)
Conforma Clad, a global leader of severe wear solutions, has obtained the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) “S” Stamp Certification.
Conforma Clad underwent a survey June 27, 2006, conducted by the Indiana Homeland Security, Division of Fire & Building Safety, Mechanical Code Enforcement Branch and by Hartford Steam Boiler (HSB) Code Services. The purpose of the survey is to allow Conforma Clad to process boiler tubing in markets that require certification to meet the ASME’s codes covering power plant safety and fitness for service. This authorization permits Conforma Clad to perform work on new parts for power boilers within a narrow scope relative to cladding for wear protection for customers who, because of their quality policy and/or state and local laws, require ASME certification.
“This is such a unique process, ASME wasn’t sure if it belonged under their code or not,” stated Dr. Don Bucholz, Vice President of Technology. “However, we demonstrated through our innovation and commitment to quality, that since this technology is so distinctive, Conforma Clad should not be excluded from ASME’s codified processes governed by the industry and sanctioning bodies.”
