Download PDF here (169 KB)

Conforma Clad tungsten carbide clad extruder barrels and liners are engineered for a variety of co-rotating, twin-screw extruders. Flanged and non-flanged block and round barrels are available for Berstorff, Coperion (Werner & Pfleiderer), Davis-Standard, Leistritz and Theysohn extruders. Conforma Clad’s unique tungsten carbide wear protection (also known as WPR-29) provides exceptional abrasion and corrosion resistance.

Features & Benefits

  • Superior abrasion and corrosion resistance reduces wear and improves component life.
  • Metallurgically bonded cladding optimizes heat transfer.
  • Dense, uniform cladding provides consistent and predictable wear.
  • Ductile tri-metallic apex resists chipping.
  • Strong metallurgical bond is virtually impervious to chipping and flaking

Cladding Characteristics

  • >70,000 psi (483 MPa) Metallurgical Bond
  • High Tungsten Carbide Loading
  • Uniform Carbide Distribution & Microstructure
  • High Inter-Particle Bond Strength

Tri-Metallic Apex Protection

Conforma Clad utilizes a combination of materials to provide the best wear protection available. The steel substrate of the extruder barrel gives our wear protection the ductility of the steel. Conforma Clad’s WC200 wear solution is applied in the bores to provide maximum abrasion resistance. The WC219 formula is then applied to the critical geometry of the apex, which provides excellent abrasion resistance while still allowing for the added ductility required in this area. This combination allows your extruder barrels to withstand highly abrasive materials, while also protecting the apex against the chipping and spalling that occurs with most wear protection applications.

Performance Data

For most conditions, Conforma Clad WC200 is applied to the barrels for maximum abrasion resistance, and Conforma Clad WC219 is applied only to the apex for increased ductility. For extremely corrosive conditions, Conforma Clad WC219 can be applied to the barrels as well.
